John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of them set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Deutschedorf from Roswell near New Mexico, was in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today he personifies the state for people worldwide. On my journeys around the world, I've encountered many non-Colorado residents. Colorado. They'll declare, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you're from Colorado. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered the song's early versions and was aware that the song would be a top 10 hit. The track was released just several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
